Central Data Management – a single source of truth for product data that reconciles supplier catalogues, attributes, images and translations. CDM is not one more database; it is the layer that decides which value wins when five sources describe the same product at once.

The problem CDM solves

Product data never arrives from a single place. Part comes from the supplier, part from your own measurements, part was written by marketing, and the images live somewhere else again. Without a central layer these versions overwrite each other and nobody knows why an attribute changed last week. CDM replaces that accident with explicit rules.

How it works

  • A unified data model that every input source is mapped into.
  • Precedence rules – which source wins for which attribute.
  • Versioning and history, so the origin of every value is visible.
  • Image and document management including variants and alt texts.
  • Translations and localised attributes for individual markets.
  • Exports to the shop, comparison sites and marketplaces from one source.

What changes in practice

A product edit is made once and appears in every channel. A new market or sales channel means adding an export, not rebuilding the catalogue. And when a customer reports a wrong attribute, you know exactly which source supplied it and what needs fixing.

We build CDM so it can be adopted gradually – starting with the most problematic product group, then the rest of the range.

Frequently asked questions

Does CDM replace our shop or ERP?

No, it complements them. The shop keeps selling and the ERP keeps handling finance and stock; CDM only decides what the product information entering them looks like. That is why it can be introduced without touching existing systems.

How long does it take to populate the catalogue?

The first source is usually a matter of days, and further ones go faster because the data model already exists. Most of the time goes into agreeing precedence rules and mapping attributes – but that work is done once and then applies to every source that follows.
